A few early bluebonnet & Indian paintbrush fields have been spotted in the Independence area (10 miles NE of Brenham) and in Old Baylor Park, which is an excellent place for viewing, picnicing, and relaxing. Kids love the swings at the playground.
Old Baylor Park is also a wonderful historic site, and the beginning of the Independence Walking Trail that will guide you past other sites. Bring good walking shoes and your camera!
There are several amazing bed & breakfast lodging properties in the area, too. Some are kid and pet-friendly.
